Prof. Mita Dasog

Dr. Mita Dasog (she/her), FRSC (UK), is an Associate Professor and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair at Dalhousie University, jointly appointed in the Departments of Chemistry and Civil Engineering. She earned her B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Saskatchewan and her Ph.D. from the University of Alberta. Following a research stay at the Technical University of Munich as a Green Talents visiting scholar, she completed postdoctoral work at the California Institute of Technology. Dr. Dasog returned to Canada in 2016 to establish her research group at Dalhousie University, where her team develops catalytic and plasmonic nanomaterials for sustainable hydrogen production, water purification, and passive mining, all powered by sunlight. Her work integrates green chemistry, materials science, and environmental engineering to advance renewable energy and circular economy solutions. Her contributions have been recognized through numerous awards and honors, including selection as a 2026 Clean50 Honoree, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (UK), and 2024 Nanoscale Horizons Emerging Investigator, among others.
