Research interests:

Proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells, PEM water electrolyzers, electrode engineering (via techniques including microfabrication, pore-formers, metal deposition), durability testing, two-phase flow in porous media, electrochemical analysis techniques, CO2 electroreduction

Research description:

Our research is focused on (1) elucidating performance and durability loss mechanisms and (2) designing high-performing and durable materials for next-generation hydrogen and fuel cell technologies.

Main equipment and infrastructure:

  • Hydrogen fuel cell testing equipment, including a Gamry potentiostat with a 30A booster, and a Fuel Cell Technologies fuel cell test station
  • Platform for catalyst-coated membrane and gas diffusion electrode fabrication
  • Access to microfabrication facilities and analytical and characterization tools including SEM and GC-MS
